Once your applications, files, and tools live in the cloud, the network in your building stops being plumbing and becomes the single point everything runs through. We design it that way — wired, wireless, segmented, and resilient.

Commercial premises and business use. We don’t take on home networking for private individuals — though a home-based business is a different matter.

The problem this solves

Business networks are rarely designed. They accumulate. An ISP router from the original install, a switch bought when headcount grew, a mesh access point added because the back office had no signal, and a guest password everyone’s customers now know. It functions well enough that nobody addresses it, until video calls start dropping in one corner of the building or a card-payment terminal shares a flat network with the accounts PC.

We survey what you have, design what you should have, and either hand you the specification or install it. The goal is a network you can explain to an auditor and won’t have to think about again for years.

What we cover

Structured cabling

Cable runs, patch panels, and a labelled comms cabinet — specified and project-managed. Wireless is a convenience layer; anything that matters should be on copper.

Switching

Managed switches sized for your port count and growth, with PoE budgeted properly so adding cameras or phones later doesn’t mean replacing the switch.

Wireless coverage

Access points positioned from an actual survey rather than guesswork, with channel planning that stops your own APs competing with each other.

Segmentation and VLANs

Guests, staff, payment terminals, cameras, and building systems on separate networks — so a compromised smart device can’t reach your accounts data.

Firewalls and edge

A real firewall with a reviewed rule set, replacing the ISP box that’s been doing the job by default since the day you moved in.

Remote and site-to-site access

VPN for home and travelling staff, and secure links between sites — authenticated properly, not a port forwarded to an internal machine.

Resilience

Secondary internet connections with automatic failover, and UPS protection for the cabinet, where downtime genuinely costs you money.

VoIP readiness

QoS and network preparation so a phone system works on day one instead of becoming a three-week troubleshooting exercise.

Principles

How we design

  • Survey before specifying. Wireless coverage is decided by walls, not by floor area. We measure rather than estimate from a plan.
  • Segment by default. Guest, corporate, payment, and device networks separate from the start. Retrofitting segmentation after an incident costs several times more.
  • Size for the growth you can foresee. Spare capacity in the cabinet and the cable runs is cheap now and expensive later.
  • Label everything. Ports, cables, and devices, with a documented plan. The next person to open that cabinet should not need to trace by hand.
  • Standard kit, not exotic. Hardware you can buy again in three years, from vendors with a support path, using configuration another engineer can read.
  • Configuration is documented and backed up. A switch config that exists only on the switch is one power surge from a very bad week.
Process

How a project runs

  1. Site visit and survey

    We walk the premises, measure wireless coverage, open the cabinet, and document what’s actually installed — which is regularly not what the last diagram says.

  2. Design and quote

    Topology diagram, bill of materials, cabling schedule, and a fixed installation price. You see exactly what you’re buying and why each item is on the list.

  3. Staged configuration

    Hardware is configured and tested on the bench before it comes near your premises, so installation day is physical work rather than troubleshooting.

  4. Installation

    Scheduled around your trading hours, including out of hours where a cutover would disrupt business. Old kit removed, everything labelled.

  5. Verification

    Coverage re-measured, throughput tested, failover actually triggered to prove it works. Results documented, not asserted.

  6. Handover

    Diagrams, credentials, configuration backups, and a plain-language summary of what changed — then either a handover to your team or an ongoing retainer.

Common questions

Do you do the physical cabling yourselves?

We specify and project-manage it, and work with cabling contractors for the installation itself. You get one point of contact and one quote covering the whole job rather than having to coordinate trades yourself.

Our Wi-Fi is bad in one specific area. Is that a whole project?

Often not. A survey visit frequently identifies a single misplaced access point or a channel conflict, and the fix is small. We’ll quote the small fix if that’s genuinely what it is — we’d rather do the honest job than upsell a refit.

Can we keep our existing hardware?

Where it’s sound, yes, and we’ll say so. Kit gets replaced when it’s out of support, can’t be segmented, or is genuinely the bottleneck — not because it’s old. The design will be explicit about what stays and why.

We’re moving premises. When should we talk to you?

As early as you can, ideally before the lease is signed. Cabling is dramatically cheaper before fit-out, and knowing what a building can support is useful while you still have the option of choosing a different one.

Can you work with our existing IT provider?

Yes. Networking is often a specialist piece alongside a generalist provider. Tell us where the boundary sits and we’ll document the handover clearly so nothing falls between you.
